Any mixing desk experts up in dis biatch?

I need a desk with the following:

1. 16 XLR inputs
2. Preferably around 19" wide (not absolutely necessary, I just can't be arsed carting around a 2m wide desk so I can play in a small bar)
3. 4 PRE-fade aux sends - arguably the most important part
4. Not shit

Any suggestions?

Yamaha and Mackie are bang for bucks.

Alan & Heath and Soundcraft do some nice gear for a bit more.

I like these as they have a basic comp on some of the channels. http://www.yamahaproaudio.com/global/en ... ers/mg_cx/

From A&H you have the Zed 24 $1490
or Mix Wiz 16 $2490
The build quality on the A&H is superior with nutted pots and individual cct boards
Internal power supply is a great feature as no wall wort
Neutrik connectors
more gain than any other brand and most importantly we can fix them most hire co's have some A&H stock as their income depends on reliability

A&H Mixwiz, in the analog world. Super great build quality, great features, including usable built in FX.
Also check out the Presonus offerings.

Yes presonus gets my vote right now. Especially the 24:4:2 model. Pair it with a half decent FireWire equipped laptop, an iPad and an omni mic and you have a complete system in a box that would do you right up to some pretty major events.

It's about $5K but if you think about what's built in, you can do away with a whole bunch of ancillary gear such as, a snake, a rack, EQs, effects, compressors and gates which makes it a bloody good deal. A lot less to lug around too.

So uhhhh, what was your budget anyway?

Good question. I didn't consider the benefits of going digital...

Was thinking $2K, but perhaps that needs a rethink. Only needing a desk and no rack sounds appealing!
