Power Supply (Supplies) Question

Post by HackSaw »

Wasn't really sure where to post this, but as it has the potential for me to end up with a couple of extra slots on the pedalboard to fill, in the GAS will do.

If I run the AC cord into my Pigtronix power supply, and out of the courtesy outlet into a splitter into both a Fuel Tank Jnr AND a 1-spot CS12, am I in danger of overloading anything? (Power originating from an ART power conditioner, 1800 watts)

Also, the CS12 has two 500ma outputs, if they are powering pedals with a 60ma draw for example, is that an issue?

1. How much power do your pedals need?! I've previously run 2 power supplies off a double power cord with no problems. But do you really need 3?

2. The pedals will only draw as much current as they need, so you'll have 440mA surplus capacity on that output. You can daisy chain several pedals off a 500mA output, especially boost & overdrive pedals, they use stuff all power.

Well somehow I have 18 pedals. 8 powered by the Pigtronix (3 use the 18v 300ma outputs). I bought a fuel tank jnr but then ended up with more pedals while I was waiting for it to arrive. Now have a Truetone, but annoyingly only 9 of the outputs are 9v, so I'm one short! I can daisy chain though, but then thought hey I could also use the Fuel Tank as well & go super silly! But maybe I won't, that might be slightly insane...

The CS12 has a lot of juice. I'm sure you could daisy chain a couple of pedals on the 500mA outputs.

15 really - the ES-5 & G-Lab M4L and tuner don't really count as pedals right?

Mine is 13 if you count the ES-8, which seems to need double the juice of its brother ES-5.

18 pedals! When my family started growing and my wallet started shrinking I got a small pedal board built for me and I decided if I couldn't fit a new pedal on the board I didn't need it! So far I've managed to keep it that way (3 years and counting) although It's getting harder to keep to this more and more!
You got a pedalboard photo?

Not yet, 4 pedals are in transit, and 2 are back-ordered. And the board itself is in the mail.

I sold the Helix and wanted a project, actual pedals are much more tactile so it should be fun! Mind you while plugging in the midi cables will be easy, I am pretty scared of the whole midi setup. People keep saying it's easy, but really? Is it?
