Fender Telecaster Ultra

Post by werdna »

New Tele Ultra is available, and it comes in a cool crude oil colour called Texas Tea. Belly cut, recessed heal, noiseless pickups, D shaped neck. $3k NZ plus shipping, with no GST if you get it here before the deadline at the end of the month. Tempting.

Any love for these out there?

Every time Fender say they have made noiseless pickups sound good. Every time I am disappointed.

Quite interesting colour, though.

Maybe I've been lucky but everything over $400 that I have brought in this year has slipped past the GST. I only have got nailed when I shop through YouPost, and nailed every time there.

So it's a Tele that's sort of a shredder, but not a very good shredder?

I don't get it.

What I like about it is the looks. But I think it has substance too.

Lol not really. It's just a very slight tweak and rebrand of what had been the American Deluxe formula for many years. Comfort contours, compound radii and noiseless pickups have been around on these for more than a decade.

I was really hoping for something that would play in a similar league to Suhr but I'm not seeing it here.
