I used this on stage last night. Can barely play a chord on piano but decided to make my bass fill-in spot for a covers band more interesting by playing a new instrument.

Truly the best noise I’ve ever made. Ran this straight into a Mesa MPulse 600 with a Markbass 410 (and PA support). It made me want to put my bass guitar down and just play synth bass all night.

Any tips/resources you recommend for learning how to play and use synths properly?

I used to have a Sub Phatty, loved it heaps. Upgraded to a Sub 37 a little while back. One of these through a PA and/or proper stage bass amp is a glorious feeling. In terms of understanding subtractive synth sound design, I actually really rate Syntorial.

I’ve had a bunch of soft synths for ages that I use for my sound design work, but have got a bit sick of software, so decided to get back into hardware synths. So many great options!

I don’t want to go to deep into the Modular money pit, but am really digging the amount of semi modular options out there now.

Started with this, which I picked up on a ridiculous discount. It was an enjoyable kit to put together, and is a load of fun (plus it looks cool sitting in the lounge)

I’ve got a couple of other synths to try out while I figure out exactly what I need, but can definitely see a Behringer ARP 2600 in my future.
