"What's wrong with doing it that way? there are a few guitars with angled humbuckers, like the Gibson Nighthawk or Van Halens Frankenstrat"

If you look at the gibson nighthawk the humbucker coils are offset so the poles line up with the strings.

On this strat the poles are at an angle to the strings. Would probably do a better job if it was straight.

Interesting these should pop up over here. They may be hand made in the UK, but they are distinctly average guitars and are usually around the £300-400 range.

it's common for output transistors to blow if played too much?

Output transistors don't blow if the amp is played too much. You only have to look at 30 year solid state amps to see this.

It is common for output transistors to blow if you load them up too much. For example if the min. output impedance is 8 ohms and you consistantly run it at 4 ohms. If you load the output too much the transistors will get hotter and deteriorate.

All that said, I ran an old holden 200 watt solid state amp with min. output impedance of 8 ohms at 4 ohms for years and it was fine. I had another one that only lasted 6 months before the outputs transistors blew.

back in the day when I was trying to be a technician (and failed so became a computer geek ;-) ) I was repairing an onkyo slave amp that had a whole bank of transistors blow the whole channel. it was also a loading problem. not 4 ohms - 0 ohms. as in, tin foil short. as in it, the unit was from a gang pad (I'm told) and they used to roll their doobies on it. tinfoil slips thru the vents and kapow batman. the hard case thing was it would get u stoned just turning it on - all th weed that had dropped into it, once it heated up.. 8)

Just asked a question on this auction. Something doesn't seem right here re this Les Paul & this aftermarket case.

Any thoughts?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... ermanent=0

The question is as below. I don't think he'll answer it.

My question. "You can of course add more pictures after the auction. Do you think it would be possible to bypass TM rules for a buy now offline which you seem to be happy to do after it's reached reserve on other people's auctions? Ref auction 103633999? & auction 103901910 & 103735811? What say you sir?"
Whooops too much red wine tonight :-)
I mean't after someone has bid

I would have thought that something with the earth ribbon & a fender style case is not quite right?

The inlays are so wrong for a Les Paul Supreme too. How could you lose a truss rod cover like this?

http://www.lespaulforum.com/slubarticle ... preme.html

Would love to see a photo of the back of the guitar too. A supreme does not have a control cavity cover apparently.
