Re: Forums have been slow, how about a 'In the mail' thread?
I bought a harmonica and a rack to put it in so I can play bass and harmonica at the same time. It arrived this morning from Music Planet.
New harmonicas need to be broken in gently so I'm sitting at my desk with the rack on and blowing softly in and out of the harp.
Good thing I work from home. Couldn't do that in an open plan office.

The reeds are fucked and you can't bend notes properly. If they are wood bodied, it also helps to give them a soak before first use so the wood swells a bit and seals any gaps. Real harp players do this in bourbon or beer if you're a cheap arse.JHorner wrote:What happens if you don't break them in gently?Vince wrote: New harmonicas need to be broken in gently
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Is there a specific psi of blowing that must not be exceeded? I don't recall any such instructions being provided with my seydel.

If you care about bending notes, you play them in. If you just want to sound like bob dylan on a bad day, it doesn't matter - you just suck and blow like an oap climbing a hill.JHorner wrote:Is there a specific psi of blowing that must not be exceeded? Nice, that will sound just about perfect with your Princeton-esque amp and a ton of reverbcodedog wrote:

You have one of these, don't you? I assume you installed a Bigsby? If so, which one?Bg wrote:Nice, needs moar bigsbycodedog wrote:
