These new "Inspired by Gibson" Epi SGs look the business. 2 piece mahogany body, burst bucket pickups, CTS pots. What are you missing out on by not buying a Gibson?

Highly likely. 1/3 of the price though. But I guess you can pick up secondhand Gibsons for $1500 on a good day.

Bloody inflation. My 2013 standard at $2k (maybe $2.2?) new seems a long ago bargain. QC was good on that though. My special however, binding was filed off by someone with Parkinson’s I’m guessing. Absolutely shocking. But… I still love it, it’s a rock’n’roll machine!

On a les paul it looks weird as they are so iconic but on a casino I think it looks really cool, I'm sure some of it is what we're used to seeing too.

Yeah I am anxiously awaiting the casino I ordered from ishibasi, and I think the headstock looks great on the casino! Even on the 339 I reckon it’s just grand. LP and SG though…

Nah no qualms about the new one. I understand why SingleCoil butchered the old one though.

I bought a mint SG Standard from Ishibashi for $1200 landed about 6 years ago. Those days are sadly behind us.

Bandmate just bought exactly the guitar in the video. It really is all the PRS you need. With all respect to the manufacturer, I've played PRS that cost 5 times as much and they weren't close to being twice as good as the SE.

This is a compliment to the SE, not a condemnation of PRS.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I plan on test driving this one which is hopefully still in stock at the Manukau RS:
