really small(physical size amps)with decent output.

Post by Kris »

hey im looking for something small, but grunty for travel purposes again.I hate having to rely on others for gear and its always a case of the devil you know etc.in the past i had a crate powerblock, which did the trick just fine but there's fuck all of them around.so looking for something in a similar vein.lunchbox would be great if it didn't have the speaker.i guess i could rehouse it but knowing my madmax DIY skuillz i'd kill any resale value on it...the ehx magnum 44 looks good but i really doubt it would be grunty enough for a doom practice?all that bottom end takes some driving...so small as possible and grunty as possible.is there such a beast?

He's already had one and sold it, so probably not, I'm guessing.

Did you see this thing? 200watts at 4ohms and just a little wider than the Powerblock, similar height. Effects loop on the back and two speaker outs, about 130W into 8ohm cabs or around 60W into 16ohm'ers. Can't find a weight for it but since the Powerblock was only two Kg's this thing would only be 4 or 5 as a guess.

Good idea, there are tons of TINY bass amps now, and at the end of the day they are a good clean pre and power amp. We have a Markbass which is small and has an awe inspiring clean tone when you plug in an electric guitar. A friend has GK head which is really tiny and super super light, would easily fit in a guitar case, haven't tried it with electric, but I reckon it would be sweet.

This may get out of the "cheap" price range and its not SS but they don't get much smaller than this
