Trademe Try-hard Dealers
What is this new trend in trademe. Heaps of guys putting up auctions for pedals etc that they dont have. Invariably at prices more expensive than you can buy them from the manufacturers or large resellers operating online or from ebay. Some are even wanting more than you can buy them for from the rockshop. Most appear to be private individuals thinking they can make a quick buck out of the gormless.
Why am I going to buy a keeley pedal on trademe from someone that will place an order in 2 weeks with them when I can buy direct for less and its here in 3 days?

Just for interest I was looking up the customs charges earlier today and I noticed that Musical Instruments and Guitars are now free of import tax according to the customs website.

Good news for people after that cheap LP or Gretsch. Probably not so good news if you're the Rockshop.

Heh, I've always had pretty good service from them where ever I've been, but then I've spent a bit of money there over the years.
Even the little stuff like strings - I went to Mainline one time and asked for strings and the dude picked a packet off the wall and said here ya go. Each time I've been to the Rockshop they've made an effort to give me the right strings for my guitar / type of music I play despite my ignorance at the time.
This has been consistent where-ever I've lived - Dunedin, Wellington, and all of the Auckland stores I have been to.
Not to suggest that my positive experience makes someone elses negative experience ok. If someone in a store where I was a customer ever called me sh!tface I wouldn't be going back, and I'd probably make a big effort to deter my friends and aquaintances and their friends and their mothers and their mothers friends from shopping there too.

Errr yeah, anyway... sorry for the thread hijack (and for the thread spam), but I went to Music123 and got really excited to see a BOSS LMB3 there for just $69.95US on special cos Ive been wanting one for a while (missed out on one on TM last week cos I couldnt be at the PC when the auction closed and got out bid in the last 2 mins ofcourse).
Anyway after going to all the effort of signing up I get the big *this product cant be shipped to an address outside the US* message.
So where do I go to get one of these, or can anyone help me out on sourcing one at less than RS prices?

At least a couple of our members are flogging pedals on TM, including the Keeley middleman.
People are realising that it doesn't take much to offer a better deal than the retailers. You just need an internet connection and an e-mail address these days to make some pocket money on weekends.
I wonder what will happen when the RS and MW wake up to this, because they're fairly oblivious at the moment.

I noticed that amazon now have a musical instruments department. While I havent ordered music stuff from them before ordering books from them has been a breeze.
I also noticed that they dont have boss pedals, I'm not sure if this is because they dont stock them or because it reads my ip and disregards anything that cannot be shipped to NZ.
There big muffs are fairly well priced.

http://www.musictoyz.com has pretty much any pedal you need, and they'll send brands like Boss and Vox to New Zealand. Their prices are pretty much comparable to the larger places like music123 as well.
There are lots of places to buy even boutique pedals

You can even send it back if you dont like it
or ebay
here is an auction by keeley himself

freight on that is $us10 so thats $nz230 on its way to you tomorrow, no GST There are two listed on trademe at the moment starting at $300 plus freight. None in stock mind you. Wait till the auction ends, get your money, then we will order you one. And I bet they are the first to bag the rockshop for price gouging.
And I'm not criticizing genuine retail dealers that carry stock or maintain some sort of product knowledge that adds value.
