Clip on tuners?

Post by matman »

I'm sick of farting around with my iphone and an irig and dont have/need a pedal because I don't gig so think I need to get a clip on tuner. Are they all much of a muchness or are there some things I need to look out for? I was looking at one of the el cheapo Joyo ones on guitar stuff http://www.guitarstuff.co.nz/accessories.html.

I use a Snark and it is fantastic. Super accurate and small.

One thing to keep in mind, is that they are very easy to lose :-)

Clip on tuners?

The iPhone poly tune is pretty good, there are free tuners as well in the App Store, Higainers is pretty sweet, just make sure it can do multiple tunings..

I bought my daughter one of the planet waves one a while ago and before she lost it it seemed quite good and nice and clear.

I've recently bought myself one of the new D'Addario ones that are tiny so I can clip it to my Taylor acoustic and leave it there all the time and not take it on or off when going in and out of its' case. It's pretty good, maybe not the most sensitive one in the world (or I've forgotten what the others were like) and it took me a little while to get used to how the display works.

but as a tiny clip on tuner it works for me, and was pretty cheap if I remember right.

I love mine (korg) for quick tuning without having to find cables/power. Hasn't replaced my pedal for when I'm all plugged in, or for live shows (where the mute function on a pedal tuner comes in handy). Tuning can get a bit meh on stage with one if there's enough vibration going on.

And the tuner to the bit of string.

I use the clip on for home noodling and a proper floor tuner live. I'm not sure how the clip on would perform live but I use mine to mute the guitar when tuning....something you'd still have to do when using a clip on.

I bought a Meideal, which is a capo with a built-in tuner. Works well. I've also got a couple of older clip-on tuners I've had for over 15 yearshttp://www.aliexpress.com/item/Gold-Del ... 52858.html
