Gear you've owned more than once....

Post by jeremyb »

Was thinking that I've owned a few things more than once and it's a fairly common gas issue... Who else is in this boat?!??!

4x dd20s,
2x sd1s,
... actually I'll spare everyone with the amount of boss pedals I've had; multiples include ds1, ce2, mz2, and some other bizarro pickings.

Ahem.

5 or 6 various big muffs,
2x ac30s,
2x fender twins,
2x Marshall class 5s,
4x epiphone les pauls (standard, custom, black beauty, goldtop),
2x epiphone dots ❤️,
3x mx5s
2x jazzmasters (one mim player special or whatever, one squier thanks to dave),
2x peavey valve kings (one 112, one 212),
4x teles (60s classic "cold dead hands" guitar, classic vibe thinline, mim standard, recent squier double bound one)
That's all I can remember; have had well over 60 guitars. Hurts my brain to try recall them all.

One of the les pauls - my current goldtop - I sold to a bloke I know in about 2012. I managed to buy it back about a year ago, mostly gutted.
I think the pickups are original, but probably not. Pots sure as hell aren't. Blah blah.
Same thing happened with the old jcm900 copy I had - bought it back and eventually flogged it off again.

Also, went through a selection of pickups in my tele I was ultimately unhappy with. I ended up putting the stock ones back in. Does that count?

Just pedals for me. First pedal I ever bought when I came to NZ in 2003 was a EHX Muff Overdrive. Saw it on TM last week (knew it was my old one) and got it back for $50.

Black Obsidian pedal, built by someone here in NZ. Looks like a dogs dinner inside but sounds amazing, has a cool low/hi gain switch so you can go from a Klon type boost to a Plexi type sound. From memory I think the guy I sold it text me to see if I wanted to buy it back off him. Done deal!

Nothing.
Is there something wrong with me?
Though, if they came up at the right price I'd grab another EHX Freeze and a DD3. Possibly a Tube Screamer too but I don't really need any of it.
And I could go an old Martin D28 :D

I've had 3 or 4 Cusack Screamers now, although I suspect that I won't be getting any more due to the arrival of Silverpistol. I've had two double cut LP specials, which have culminated in the current DC Junior.
Also: 4 x Fiat 127, 3 x Fiat Uno and 2 x Alfa 146.

I do this all the time. Out of my present gear I've owned one Les Paul three times and the other twice, the Blankenship twice and I've just sold a CS '66 Strat for the second time.

It's perfectly normal... ;-)

I was going to say nothing, but then I remembered that BG was good enough to sell me my old Fuzzie bro 808 clone back. Good pedal for a screamer type. Has all the good bits inside. Not sure what difference they make tbh. Has a second footswitch that turns it into a Keeley modded 808. Separate drive control for the mod, so can set up a clean boost on one side and then kick in more dirt.

Only thing sold as far as pedals go that i want back is script logo Phase 90 RI. Batteries only and no LED tho, but it sounded fantastic.

Guitar wise. A good SG would be nice. Want that more than another LP. 245 is cutting it for now tho, although it needs a setup tweak that is beyond me (can't get truss rod and action right, which i usually manage no probs)

Amps? Nah. Would not buy the amps I have already had. Laney is doing fine for me. I would like a late 70s JMP MkII with a nice cab, but would never get to use it unless I load box it.
