Reading his ‘see ya later’ letter makes me feel a bit better for selling my Fulltone Fuzz Octave

robthemac wrote: Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:54 am It is a really interesting question as to how much you can or should separate a creator from the product or art. I probably wouldn't buy something new from him or JHS, just like I'd struggle to pay to watch a movie that Kevin Spacey is getting a cut from. But on the second hand market, I'd consider it to be distant enough that I could just see an OCD as a great pedal.
Whats wrong with JHS?
JHS isn't liked because they're partnered with a pretty a radical organization called IHOPKC (International House of Prayer) which is a superchurch-type of religious sect that's had some questionable investigations into their practices. They're considered extreme by even a lot of Christians. They're pretty homophobic and they supported the "Kill the Gays" bill in Uganda to an extent. They're featured in the documentary "God Loves Uganda" which shows a lot of what they're up to and criticized for and documents it.
Not sure how accurate that is
There's been some doubt as to how actively JHS supported them, but I am uncomfortable enough to avoid them.

This whole "suddenly more desirable" vibe is silly. Reverb prices are already climbing...why? Does his pedals n ow sound better? I've had plenty of Fulltone. Sold every one of them.

He seems like a really likable guy, and its great that he showcases other manufacturers pedals on his videos.

The OCD was good for its time but way overrated these days.

But anyway, there goes the used market!

I feel sorry for all the people he's laying off so he can retire comfortably. So much for succession plans...

As I say, needlessly salty today. I really have nothing against him, but his videos are too long. And I don't like the way his pedals look. So I guess I'm the dick here! :congrats:
