I just got a fender 25r that I play a tele through. I find the distortion on this to be somewhat lacking tho. I want to get a decent distortion box. I was thinking of a Boss DS-1. What are these like? Are there any other boxes worth getting?
Cheers.

I've always been under the impression those DS-1's
aren't really that good, if you wanna go cheap
go for a behringer distortion/overdrive pedal
Cheap and quite good value for what you pay
I'm just a plug for cheap gear
cause it's all I can afford

go with the DS-1, they're indespensible at the price
How much have you got to spend, and how long have you got? I love my Cusack ScreamerFuzz.... theres always the Hotcake as well, probably my next purchase!
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Don't really wanna go over $150. I'm in no particular rush.

DS1 is probably your best bet unless you can stretch to a hotcake, approx. $200 direct from the source, usually cheaper than the 2nd hand trademe ones

Very true. And it's purple. Not a colour I want to associate with.

don't let Rog see you posting that
the distortion modeller might be worth looking at as well, theres one on trademe too....
Best advice is to go and try them out and let your ears decide, the Behringers have a good rep as they're based on the Boss pedals.

my opinion is to wait for a Rat on TM. Either a Rat2 or Vintage Rat will do you fine. And you probably will never need anything to replace it
Hmmm....Its niiiiiice
