stacked humbuckers are quite a good idea as you can also wire in a switch to use the single coil and get the best of both worlds

The Carvin one is about $100 I would expect others to be a similar price

What's the verdict on the Fender CS (Custom Shop) 54's? I'm currently looking for a vintage sounding set, and it's possibly the closest I can get according to some reviews out there. No reverse-wound mid pickup, rich harmonics, low-output, passive... just like the ones from the golden era. I'm just wondering if anyone here has tried them.

My stock Japanese pickups are either too dull (neck) or ice-picky (bridge). I don't worry too much about noise, I just want richer harmonics coming out of my beloved strat. I've gone through so many years/things with it. I just don't want to give up on it yet. :)
