Gosh Darn it!
Silly Music123 sent me the wrong set of pickups!!
I ordered some DiMarzio's for the ASH custom...the PAF Joe & the "FRED"
They arrived yesterday but they are the bloody "F" Spaced ones and I ordered the normal ones. Now they have to go all the way back....bugger.
Anyway...what are the "F" spaced pickups used for??

Little by little, by hook or by crook
Used for guitars with wider string spacings, so the pole pieces are under the strings. The is much debate over what the 'F' stands for, however. Many seem to think it is for 'Floyd' as these pickups are most commonly found on guitars with Floyd Rose and other tremolos.

Don't send them back, I've had a few enquiries through TM about the Joe, as they are not yet available throught the local distributor. You should be able to sell it easily on TM.
F could easily stand for Fender, as the old strat trem spacing (57mm) is much wider than a Floyd (54mm), which is only slightly wider than a tune-o-matic (52mm)

Oops! Too late! Already contacted M123 about the mess up and they have sent the return slip. Those people who have enquired should just get their own set from M123 for like just over $200 NZ for the pair!

easily. The last time I looked at pickups (they were Seymour Duncans) in a music shop here they ranged from $250 to $290 each.

I guess so, but then I would have had to wait till they were sold before ordering new ones, just to run the risk of M123 sending the wrong ones again!! (They actually said it was a web-site malfunction)
Plus, last time I tried selling some pickups (they were SD's), I didn't get much for them and they were new too!
