DiMarzio's for my Epi Les Paul!

Post by limoooooooo »

So I've been struggling to think of what I want Santa to get me for Xmas... then I saw Music Planet's DiMarzio clearance  I've always thought whenever I upgrade My Epi Les Paul Standard's pickups I'd go with the tried and true JB/59 combo. But those clearance prices are just far too good to ignore

So, what pickup combination would you recommend me? I'm not actually after an exact match of the JB/59 combo. Just a classic PAF type neck pickup and something high output to compliment it in the bridge. As for my tonal needs, just think Green Day and pretty much every pop punk band in existence...

DiMarzio PAF's are really awesome.

For slightly higher output in the bridge, but still good rock flavour, my best suggestion would be Air Norton (that's what I have in my own LP).

Looks like a PAF model is the go to then! Any other takers for a bridge pickup?

There are very few of the listed cheap DiMarzios left, so don't get too set on any one model. They haven't updated the website of things I cleared them out of a week ago ;)

Damn! I'm guessing you took everything possibly worth looking at...

Time to start looking for Christmas ideas again! I really want a new amp but I can't find many tube amps in the $300-400 range that would be loud enough to fight over a drummer

Not absolutely everything good is gone, but if like the chap in here today you want a blue this and purple that, you might have to settle for the usual prices.

I'm going to get an updated list on Monday and will be able to take orders for whatever is left. PM your hopes and dreams.

I've got an Evo 2 in the bridge of mine, and I likes it. It's pretty hot.

Talk to the Rockshop boys. You're not far off the 'special forum' price for an Excelsior and believe me, they are giant killers.

Interesting looking amp but not quite what I'm after! The Dano 63's are catching my eye now... It's about time I got a guitar that doesn't have humbuckers! I guess I'll just wait and see what's on Ash's list :)
