I have a set of PU's , never heard them, got them s/hand and not sure if theyre even working, is there an EASY way to test if there operational?

Use a voltmeter/Ohmmeter to test the resistance. If there is some in the 3-30kOhm range it should work.

Connect the wires up to a voltmeter and then tap the pickup with a screw driver and see if theres any current.
Well.. im not sure if thats the expert way, but thats what i do. It seems to work.

conect a lead with one end bare to the wires on the pup and hover them over your guitar while the other end of the lead is pluged into your amp.
turn your amp down
bit of a hack method but its cool.

basically - a std guitar lead without a jack on one end (just wires), connected to an amp. Connect them to the pup wires, so its really like a guitar. Then hold them over top of the strings of an unplugged gat and play the strings...

its hard to nail enter sandman while holding the pick up but with practice...
