I reckon Thorogood sounds like a chicken sometimes.

Thorogood gets no respect, I tells ya. And he is still the loudest guitarist I've ever heard.

Dammit, he really is the coolest man alive, isn't he?
The "funk original" clips are great. Some nice bass-effects demo-ing in the 3rd part. Here's the 1st:

Hell yeah! I love his solos on John Mayall's 70th birthday DVD with Clapton. What does he use on that, do you know?

i hear he is a real gear nerd - buys mesa boogies and modifies them himself.
its so funny the way clapton gets completely intimidated whenever buddy plays a solo.
its nice that the mayall dvd has made him semi famous:) - and nice to know he is more of a journeyman than a god gifted freak.

Nomination for the worst tone: Baby It's You by Promises, nice rock solo but totally samick tone, thin weedy phased and chorused guitar sound. All the organic guitar elements stripped out to leave a tinny mosquito fart
Tin arse!!

Porno for Pyros - Pets
Raw and meaty lead sound twisted up with pedal action goodness.

man what a tragic ending
+1 for that. F*ckn not easy to dial in though!
Its definitely not just 10-0-10 on the eq, with dimed gain and presence. That sounds ratshit on most any amp, its fun sometimes for the silly harmonics you can pull tho.
I would nominate Dave Mustaine as one of my least favourite lead tones, but his rhythm can be quite menacing its own way.
