When people talk about their ears 'ringing' I think I might have gone beyond that....I just get a high-pitched tone. Hearing damage much?

I thought the room ambience just sounded like an amp cranked up in a smallish room...au natural, but I guess he's using a pedal?
nah I'm sure thats just a smallish room, but I want that tone in a biggish room too, or outdoors - hence the term 'room reverb' ;) like if I wanted to sound like I was in a big hall, I'd use the hall, or if I wanted to sound like I was in a plate or a spring....

ok, the theory is flawed but you get my drift ;)

The Malekko Chicklet sounds amazing if you're wanting a simple spring reverb emulation.

Price sounds reasonable. Think I'm sold on doing it by pedal. Much more versatility. Been checking out the various suggestions on you tube.

Pedal sounds good. You can flog it off if you don't like the thing, fund something else on your GAS list

Have both!! I use one of these on my main board.

In my case the tank (small) is screwed underneath the board. It is simply the best sounding floor based reverb I have heard. I was heart broken when I siold my Princeton but onyl because I missed the reverb so much. This has filled that void and of course means I can use it with any amp. Mine cost $265USD shipped to my door. Happy to demo if you want...Tron fest in Sept.

I have the larger Van Amps spring reverb. Highly recommend it, would probably get the new small one if I was buying now.

I'm confused though BG, you want to simulate that kind of room ambience by running a pedal? But that is the sound of the amp breaking up in a room, rather than the sound of a reverb pedal before the breakup of the amp, then into a different room - that'd sound quite different I'd imagine. You just need an amp in a room to get that kind of sound right?

Does running a room simulation before an over driving amp sound like an overdriving amp in a nice room?

My fav reverb is one where I'm not sure that its even on until I disable it and then I really notice the difference.

I don't have that kind of room...
It helps if the room is Headley Grange

Not really, but then isn't the whole idea of having this type of pedal to approximate the natural sound you are looking for?

BG wrote:installing a reverb tank isn't a small job, you're better off buying a pedal as long as
a) you have an effects loop
or
b) you run the amp clean and hit it with pedals

I got a EHX Holy Grail Plus recently, does the job really well and has the room reverb on it which I prefer over spring and hall so it was pretty much a no brainer for me. Sounds great.
I'd be keen to hear this. I'll have to make the effort to get to one of your gigs sometime.
I've been looking at either one of these or the Hardwire RV-7 however my amp does not have an effects loop and I tend to crank it so it is not always clean.
