:lol: dunno. Most of my tonal fiddling is via the guitar's controls. Ok, there's only a limited effect you can have when at the end of the cord is a 15W Park transhitsor amp, but still...

As has been said, sounds that are good for practising at home don't really work for recording or live playing. When your guitar is the only thing making noise (practising by yourself) you tend to want to make a "complete" sound - in terms of eq, and the sort of sound you dial up. When playing with other instruments, both of those things change, as you don't have to be complete by yourself. Less distortion and effects, and more mids and treble sound much better than they do at home by yourself.

(I know I'm late in the thread, but I wasn't going to keep quiet just cos I've been away, and hence missed the main discussion :P )
