Microphone Robot

Post by jeremyb »

Was watching this random video with one of Rammstein's guitarists and he was talking about a mic position system he had developed, kinda cool idea!

I've seen a few people make them, great idea. Here's another one, along with a "drumbrella"

Both of those videos were really interesting. What I was wondering was whether the robot stores the position so that you can get that sound back again. I mean isn't it pointless to have a robot for mic positioning if you can't put it back to where the sweet spot was?

Still as I said ... both were really interesting.

haven't watched yet but my understanding is you can crank the amp, then retreat to the safety of the control booth and mess with the positioning from there without having your ears cm away from the deafening speakers, at least that's what I've seen them used for

What the robot doesn't do is make coffee and go out for curry.
