Need help with pedals!

Post by Thomas234 »

I am in the verge of choosing pedals haha. Needing an opinion, I have a distortion (vox), wah(vox), Delay DD-3 (boss) and overdrive (digitech and sd-1) on my pedal board atm. I have other pedals I am not using too like the Jackhammer Ed compressor, equalizer and I have 4 pedals Im making but its taking time, might have to just finish it next week! I ran out of jacks and leds and can't be bothered leaving the house and driving to jaycar haha. The first few pedals I mentioned above are pedals I'm using

Now I need to choose 1-3 of these pedals: Boss MD-2, MXR Distortion III, Boss CH1 - Modtone Aqua Chorus, Rocktron Short Timer Delay etc
Which one or 3 would be best to get without any regrets or would be good for my pedalboard? one thing i dont have are modulations but I'm not really sure if I need it yet

Help Please! I wanna keep my pedal board as simple as possible for now I guess.

The philosophy of "technically", is technically not a philosophy
because there are still many technicalities, although technically
speaking it can technically still be a philosophy, but it all
depends on how you can technically see technically, technically.

What amp are you using again? Forgotten your gear thread.

What sort of sounds are you going for with them?

Oh yea my bad, I have a Peavey Valveking with marshall Tubes and a broken Marshall JCM900 (getting fixed at rockshop) Im just after contemporary sounds. I do play satriani stuff but I do love playing contemporary rock(modern music) atm I have Joe Satriani's Satchurator (x2) for my distortion and Badmonkey for a thicker boost/ overdrive. :D Hope it helps

Guitar >> Wah >> EQ set to flat boost or mid boost >> Bad monkey >> Satchurator >> CH1 >> Amp

The Valveking I had took pedals really well. The SD1 might be a better bet than using both the EQ and the Bad monkey, but give both a try.
Don't forget to try your pedals in different orders too.

This is the one I have atm but I have taken the Euqalizer off! and no CH-1 haha, I'll give it another try witht eh equalizer, I was wondering, what are your thoughts regarding the MXR Distortion III and Boss Mega Distortion compared to the mighty Satchurator? also the Boss CH-1 Vs Modtone Chorus? I was thinking of buying this Modtone chorus from one of the forum members! apparently it has been modded to take the hiss off as well and one other option is the Boss CH-1 but its leaning towards the CH-1 ATm <-- I dont really know which one has a warmer sound :S

Choruses aren't known to be warm, but you've read all you need to in the PMs.
