I read about Nick Menza (he's an old Megadeth drummer, Rog), he had laser surgery on his eyes after he'd become successful and all of a sudden he could see the audience, which completely freaked him out.hamo wrote:You should play blindfolded.jimi wrote:Try playing for strangers 1st. I've had gigs where I'm fine and its all going well, then the mrs shows up with a bunch of friends (cos shes always late) and as soon as I see people I know the nerves come out and my playing goes to shit.jeremyb wrote:I get nervous enough playing in front of friends, let alone having a proper audience, congrats man, it's a huge first step!!

All this seems trivial after the porn industry.

Cheers! Yea now I've had a taste of it, I'd like to do it again for sure - and with my own equipment. Looking back, I think me and the drummer did quite well, after only 3 practice jams - it was all a spur-of-the-moment, unplanned thing.MattH wrote:Hey Clanger.
Well done for getting your arse up on a stage and giving it your best shot. Everyone has to start somewhere. You should give yourself a large drink for getting up there and having the balls to give it a crack. Now book the next gig before you talk yourself out of it!
Keep going. You absolutely have to keep going.
We need more birthday invites But even if we never play in front of people again, I'll be glad just knowing I did it once.
