Most of these you tubers sell merch or courses to make their money I believe. I'm not sure if many people make a living from you tube alone.

Re: Name a better tone than...
Old Santana had good tone.
EVH pre keys
Gary Moore on Corridors of Power
Chris Poland on early Megadeth
Tim Rodgers from You am I had a cool thing going on for a while.
The Warner Brothers (early 90s) from Melbourne, used steel-string acoustics into pedalboards and yes, very tasty.
Max from Checkerboard Lounge back in the early 90`s used a 335 and a marshall he would sit on, at the verge of feedback, just touching the strings would produce the warmest bloom.
the Wellington guy from Odessa had balls out tone from a small Fender amp each time I saw them.

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Do you remember what delay was used?Capt. Black wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 4:59 pm Not a famous track at all. But one I love for the lead tone.
Beautiful LP through a mix of vintage and modern Marshall’s.

Yes, yes. I produced and co-mixed it. But hey...

Not sure. May be an oldish Ibanez digital delay... It's been a while.robthemac wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 3:01 pmDo you remember what delay was used?Capt. Black wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 4:59 pm Not a famous track at all. But one I love for the lead tone.

Paging JB. I'm currently gushing over Henrik's new album 'Missing pieces', it's fantastic. Have a listen to this track, it sounds very Mayer to me
Love the way the song builds and then into the solo at 2.59, even the vocals remind me of Mayer. Classy player

There's a cover with Five Finger Death Punch and Brian May!

I was listening to Romeo and Juliet the other day and it made me think of this thread. Near the end of the song he comes in with an electric part, and man that's one of the best Strat tones I've ever heard. According to this article it may have been a Schecter. https://www.groundguitar.com/mark-knopfler-gear/

On a bit of an Eddy Shaver bender at the moment, music not the other shit that killed him. Anyway apparently his classic tone was a 55 Strat (low output pickups) through a Mesa Boogie Colesium Mk II . So fucking good. And to think I never considered myself a Mesa Boogie person. Now I want what he had.
Such a clean tone that people thought it must have been a Fender.

Love this. Shakey Graves on a cheapo Danelectro amp; near implosion. Cool story too.

The absolute definition of spacious reverb and judicious use of a tremolo arm. Bloody great tune to boot as well.
