Is Chorus back?

Post by slash-ed »

It feels like chorus as an effect has been enjoying a resurgence recently. Yay or nay? Or did it never go away?

In any case, I made this video to help people compare and contrast every single BOSS chorus ever made... so please watch and hopefully it helps in your tone questing!

Haha I love the two extremes presented within the first two replies.

I've always loved chorus and it's been very present in the music that I listen to... but for some reason never used it much in my actual playing.

I think it requires Justin Timberlake to do a song to bring it back officially. So far he's only done sexy, so I reckon chorus is next.

But in that song he does say "take it to the chorus" which I assume is a reference for the guitarist to take his guitar to the chorus pedal.

I'll have to watch Ed's video. There are chorus sounds I like but it always makes me think of a singer accompanied by a solo, clean, over chorused guitar.

For some reason I can't explain, if I need that sort of thing, I'll use flange.
And whatever it is that Strymon's Deco does, in subtle doses it's wonderful.

Hey Ed, I made a comment recently, " If Boss don't make it, you don't need it." And I generally hold this to be true. But Boss doesn't do any form of Klon clone do they?

Not as a standalone pedal, but there's a good Centaur mode that lives inside of the OD-200, funnily enough I was just watching this video that one of our artists in Brazil did:

It's also one of the OD/DS types available in Katana, GT-1000 and GX-100 :)

Can't play Stone Roses songs without a bit of chorus. That's a win for me.

Chorus is essential, John Mayer made it cool again though with Sob Rock.

Can't do Hooky bass without it. Preferably an old noisy one.
