can't handle a wound G - bends on the G is my go to for soloing, and I start to get separation between finger tip and nail on long gigs. It's painful to the point that I have 10's on the guitars I play at home for the chunkier sound, but 9's on the guitar I finish gigs with to save my fingers.

Saw 9.5s on that chart someone posted, so want to give them a go for some best of both worlds.

I've used a wound G when I've gone really low (B standard) on a 25.5" scale 6 string. Worked much better than a plain G; which sounded like a terrible case of stratitis and couldn't be intonated.

Its amazing how underwear can affect your tuning stability!
