Read that yesterday. He's referring to electrics only and although I've always kinda suspected something of the sort, I still think a nice piece of white Limba offers something special. :D

Its a loaded title to get clicks...

"I’ve come to the conclusion that tonewoods don’t matter. Not that they don’t change the sound of your guitar, but that they simply don’t matter, and that’s okay with me."

He doesn't care about the wood, thats all he is saying in this article, but it will initiate the age old debate and drive traffic.

I find the use of both "tonewoods" and "woods" a bit confuzzling. Do I care about woods affecting tone in my electric guitar? Nope, not really. Do I care about woods lending pleasing aesthetics to the instrument? Sure, I do. Do I care about woods that don't break my back and/or crick my neck with their weight? Definitely.

+1.

Also woods that are vaguely sustainably sourced and milled. My almost-complete project is 100% native timbers, which is pretty cool.

Since hitting a guitar funk this year I've decided once your gear is above a pretty low bar everything else is cosmetic or marketing. The old me would tell the young me to stick with the £150 CBS Strat I bought aged about 17, and the JMP MV50 head around the same time. Decent guitar. Decent amp. Now focus on making decent music.

Problem is, if the 57 year old me won't listen, what hope would the 17 year old have?

Stop denying your nature Molly. You are the embodiment of the 'One More' principle. We look up to you!

Warmth do a great comparison testing tonewood. The difference wasn’t huge but I did prefer the Ash body
