hifi / networking geeks please
Hi I have a quandry
Where i am I cant get fibre and the other options are very slow
How ever the mobile data speeds are excellent so I just live off my phone as a hot spot. Its great for streaming content etc and has no speed issues.
However I want to connect my digital streaming amp (linn) to a network but it only has ethernet inputs (no built in wifi).
So is there a way to have my phone hotspot to some sort of router then connect to the amp via an ethernet cable?
Cheers

Re: hifi / networking geeks please
We have a wifi range extender that lives in the hall cupboard. Takes the wireless signal in and has an ethernet out that I use for our security system. That might do the trick, but I'm not sure whether hotspotting is creating a wifi network in the same way a router would, so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 6:12 am Hi I have a quandry

If mobile data speeds are good, then get an RBI modem for your home WiFi and just run an ethernet cable out of that. All the mobile operators will have a version.

Could get something like this:
https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-network ... co-x80-5g/
But you’d probably want to get its own sim and plan and things

Re: hifi / networking geeks please
Thanks guys
I’m trying to get quboz going and I can’t find it as an app on my tv (which is optically linked to the amp as it is)
I can stream Spotify happily from the tv via the amp but would like to use my quboz account
Will try above suggestions

When you say stream, do you mean from your phone, or from a NAS or something else that requires an ethernet connection?StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Thu Jan 18, 2024 6:12 am Hi I have a quandry

Get Starlink, it its your best option for sure. Home extender might help, but you cant beat ethernet connections

I’ve actually just bit the bullet and gone back to spotify that I can install on the Sony Bravia and use an optical output to the amp
rather than streaming from the unit itself

Sweet, all 3 options will solve your problem, but the first two are better value.StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 1:30 pmIm getting unlimited data with one nz and it’s very quickDanger Mouse wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:17 pm Wireless Broadband

Re: hifi / networking geeks please
Man, I didn't read the original question properly, ok you just need something capable of being a wireless bridge, so a basic wifi range extender with an ethernet port should work: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETTPL ... It will have a web management interface where you'll be able to get it to join to your hotspot
*edit* looks like Hamo already suggested this...
