started the peter green tolex, amp chassis is built and ready to go - fitted a bias pot today, may end up modding trem depth yet.

Any other worthwhile mods doing? I feel I should live with it for a month before doing tone mods

I think the best is putting a 470k grid stopper on the PI - all sorts of gross splat removed with no downside.

Trem depth and speed are a must.

I also liked upping the first filter cap to 40uf and adding a mids pot in the speaker extension hole.

NFB switch is pretty fun too.

Got the inputs redone - 68k’s now on the sockets and go straight to it the tube socket with shielded wire.

Got some gold knobs that look baller on there too.

I had a 500pf bright cap on Vol II and none on Vol I but have swapped both back to 100pf - really didn’t like how muffled and shrill the channels were respectively, much nicer now.

Only really have the octal sockets to swap out now…got a g12h30 from the venerable basket case to swap with one of the G12M’s

This amp sounds sooooo much better and quieter now

Ha! I’d be lying if I said it hadn’t briefly crossed my mind early on but in reality the PCB they’ve done is exactly the same as a turret board.

Ha! I’d be lying if I said it hadn’t briefly crossed my mind early on but in reality the PCB they’ve done is exactly the same as a turret board.

That PCB is up amongst the really good ones - there'd be little point in replacing it.

Did the grid stopper as it was on my list and also the trem depth, speed is fine for me. Might do the nfb switch at some point.

Looking good in green, need to finish though.

Hoping to pick the brains of the community here on a broken Fender Blues Deville I might be purchasing. (For the price of the cabinet and near new valves essentially)
It’s not working currently and looking at the broken ribbon cables, cracked /broken solder joints on the input jacks, some shoddy looking previous repairs and terrible condition in general it looks like a good donor cabinet to build something from scratch into.
I think it would be a good amount of money to get running again and I’d still
Just have a Blues Deville which isn’t particularly inspiring to me.

My first thought was bassman build using the existing transformers and hopefully reusing some valves. but I wouldn’t mind using the reverb tank as well so wondering what circuit would be best here. Given it will not be an exact clone of anything due to the different transformers am I best to make a Fender “type” amp?
Paul WD is up for the task if I decided I want to go down the road of building something into this chassis.
What circuit is the best match for this?
What hurdles might I have trying this?

My first thought was 5F6 bassman, but adding reverb.
Or maybe just something classic BF like a Super Reverb?

Yes build it and they will come
You could start by measuring or researching the PT specs
That will give you a good idea of what may or may not be feasible
That’s where I’d start then I’d scan thru the Hammond charts to see what fender models fit those specs.
I mean aesthetically it’s asking for a 5f6 …

Quick google search says yes- doable. You'll probably have to stick with the same solid state full wave rectifier (someone smarter will correct me on this if im wrong)
