I'm going!
Going partly cos I like the BDO, and partly cos Tool and Muse are a couple of my favourite (modern) bands.
So, my day looks like this.
5:30 am Alarm goes off. Wake up, realise I don't have to go to work and have forgotten to un-set my alarm, go back to sleep.
9:00 Wake up, get ready, bounce about the house with Tool on full volume.
10:00 Head off to the big day out!
10:15 realise have forgotton ticket. Go back for ticket.
11:00 Arrive just in time for the North Shore Pony Club in the Boiler room
11:45 Minwe in the boiler room too. How convenient
12:30 Voom on the black stage. Realise have forgoton hat. Go buy hat.
1:00 Trivium On the orange stage. Realise have forgotton earplugs. Go buy earplugs. And sunscreen while I"m their.
1:45 The Tutts on the green stage, I so love that annoying song they play
2:45 Hot Chip back in the Boiler room. Walk into pole as still wearing sunnies. Damn.
3:20 Put on disguise, sneak over to see My Chemical Romance on the blue stage. Try not to get spotted by anyone I know....
4:30 Kasabian back on the green stage
5:15 Jet on the Blue stage
Stay at the blue stage for Scribe, working way towards the front for ...
7:00 The KIllers!
8:00 Muse!
9:00 Tool!
10:30 Head back to the boiler room to try catch the last few minutes of Crystal Method,
!0:45 Shape shifter
11:45 Walk back to car. Fall alseep on someones lawn on the way.
3:30 am Wake up to find hedgehog licking face.

They've also decided to have a rehearsal at 7am tomorrow morning ... loving it.

I'll be within earshot of the whole deal until just after it starts, when I'll have to go far away and work without upsetting desperately sensitive ears of the fucktards who buy apartments next to a factory.

You know while Krisitie is at the BDO we could run a sweepstake on whether she makes it home or gets arrested for some trivial item that upsets the blue meanies. All monies to be paid to charity of course
$1.00 says she makes it to 4pm and is then hauled off in the paddy wagon.

You can't do THAT on stage!

Was a pretty awesome day ... weather was decent, I got sun burnt, but not too badly.
I piss arsed around for a while before cruising in - while I was pretty keen to see Shakey Hands, Voom and Die Die Die, but I'm feeling my age and didnt want to blow my wad early. Found a park and got in about 2:30.
Saw a bit of the vines who sounded good before wandering down to see what all the fuss over My Emo Romance is all about. Sound on the main stage was rubbish and could barely hear anything, so headed up stairs and caught some reggae at the lilly pad, before having a look at Lily Allen who was good for a laugh.
Checked out the stalls and stuff for a bit, then went to see Elemeno P, who played all their stuff that I knew the words to, singing along is good, then went down to see The Killers. Sound on the main stage was still shite, couldn't barely see them and could only tell what song was being played when the crowd was singing along. So couldnt see them and couldnt hear them so don't know if they were any good.
Muse were on next and the sound was sorted for them, crowd was pretty packed though, so was hard work getting close enough to have a good look. They were pretty flash, only saw about half an hour of them cos I wanted to see The Veils as well, but would have liked to see more. Big sound and some fancy playing, will definitely go see them if they tour again.
Popped upstairs to see the Veils. Sound on the smaller stages was much better and smaller crowds made it more pleasant.
Went to see The Streets next, they put on a good show. Sound was good and he played lots of stuff I'd heard on the radio, so there was more singing along with a bit of dancing this time. Good Times.
Then went down for Tool. Had missed the 1st half an hr, but they did a 90min set which meant I got to see about 4 songs. While I'm a big Tool fan (undertow was the 1st CD I ever bought) I'm not a fan of thier stage show. The sound is great and the stuff on the screen is cool, but its not much different to watching a music video. I figure when you see a band live you want to see the band playing and putting on a show, even talking to the audience - not just going the the motions infront of 4 big TV screens. Anyway rant over - the sound was sorted by this time and their performance was polished as expected.
Nipped away 5 mins before the end to get a primo spot for Violent Femmes - definitely the highlight for me. They played 5 songs off their 1st album, all the classics, as well as a few other well known ones, some bluegrass, and they had a guest horn section with Don McGlashun (sp?) which was awesome. Much more singing along and dancing, finished the show with a great performance of Add it up.
Gear wise, I saw alot of Marshalls, LPs and Telecasters. There must have been an Ampeg rig on every stage (mmmmm ampeg pr0n). Plenty to drool over and add to my shopping list.
Car didnt get broken into so I'm 3/5 for that now, making it an awesome day all round.
