Haha! Brilliant!IkeKrull wrote:I don't think Axl has/had any idea just how much Slash added to that band, both musically and image-wise.
Really, can you imagine a 'Don't Cry' video with Ron Thal driving his hyundai excel off a cliff and then standing on a cliff sweep-picking about it?
Or buckethead, with his KFC bucket and slasher mask, the best man at axl's wedding?

Re: GnR without Slash?
I liked it ... but then I was 15 at the time ...Jenesis wrote: Saw them on the Use Your Illusion tour years back. Absolute garbage, one of the worst live shows I've ever seen (even MC Hammer was better).
Watching the Tokyo DVDs is a mixed bag - some killer guitar playing, some ridiculous amount of costume changes ... and the costumes themselves.

That's the one. Power outage was a bit unfortunate.

Skid Row were pretty damn good that night. Straightforward set, big contrast to the G'n'R set. Rachel Bolan sang a Ramones cover.

"Have you guys ever heard of a band called the Ramoooooooooooonesssss?!" ... I think he was trying to get the crowd hyped, but it just sounded kinda condescending.

I went to the Mt Smart gig.
It was hideous, in fact fucking terrible.
They did a roaring trade at the merch stalls so the bank was probably happy.
Musically it was perhaps the most by the numbers gig I've ever seen. Absolute no risk taking or actual "improvisation". Bored millionaires playing shit music for idiots who paid good money to eat corporate crap.
Big cheer for the outage if I remember right.
who was the chump M.C.?
"would the guy in the black jeans and black jersey sit down"
there was only 5000 greasy and spotty "men"dressed this way.
and worse still was Skid Row. without a doubt the worst band I have ever seen. Bach was a preening ,screeching ,out of tune poseur who out haired the hairiest of hair metaleers. Which as we all should now by now is probably the worst genre of Music ever categorized.
which means Dead Flowers wins Band of the Day, if only through lack of competition and the balls to cover Ice T's "Midnight".
Hon, where is the tranq's?

Or they don't think they have, until they hear Blitzkrieg Bop and recognition dawns.philipnz wrote:Everybody has heard of the Ramones, just nobody has heard any of their songs (in general)

Went to that one too. Too young though, sat way up the back. Lots of "scary" metallers. I remember one biker type not too far from us threw a playing dart and got arrested.philipnz wrote:I'm trying to think when i saw GnR. Was around 1989 I think. they were at the top of their tree. The concert was crap though
