Hey guys, Does anyone have any tips or ideas when getting an amp from the states or on ebay? Since i doubt i can afford a decent head atm, im looking at getting one sent over, Does anyone have anywhere i should look, or a good big online store that ships internationally, where i can actually get a good amp cheaper?
Cheers,
Chris
Also... If anyone has any amps they are selling or could sell to me, please offer However.. nothing above $400
Unless you can get one mega MEGA cheap (or wow rare), it's probably not worth the hassle. Falling dollar, massive shipping charges, stepdown transformers.
Unless you (or your close mates that you can bribe) know enough about soldering, reading circuit diagrams and sourcing parts that Jaycar doesn't know about it's a waste of time

The two main concerns are probably weight and electricity. Amps are generally fairly heavy so it probably wont be cheap to bring anything over. If it still works out to be cheaper than what you would pay in NZ then you should try to look for something that has switchable input voltages. Amps in the states run on 110v, but NZ power is 240v . If the amp has switchable voltages you may be in luck, otherwise you're going to have to get the transformer rewired, or purchase an external step-down transformer - $200+.
Its not an impossible idea, you just have to consider whether the risk / difficulty is worth the reduced price you are paying. I'm planning to bring a Fender Twin Reverb into the country next year, but my dad works for an airline, so im hoping to bring it back as luggage, and avoid paying shipping / too much GST. I'm probably not going to save a huge amount when you consider getting the transformer rewired and the flight I will probably need, but at least it gives me the opportunity to check out all the awesome stores up in LA again

Seriously?
I think that says it all. Sorry to rain on your parade but anything you can buy for $400 new or used in NZ is NOT even worth the effort of an Ebay search to try and import.
Yeah you are right Capt. I kinda realised half way through writing it.. but i figured since i spent that much time writing it int he first place, and through my own curiosity, id post it anyway... But if anyone does have any heads lol..
Have a look at all the B52 amps I have in stock and I can offer 33% off them as I am about to have a big sale of the brand
the ST60a is great value http://www.jansen.co.nz/product.php?b=&sku=ST60A so bascially I can do this for about $1090
I am going to sell out of all of the models and concentrate on Carvin and Egnater so there are some hot bargains to be had I can of course still service them
