WTF sound out of an amp head with no cab
Being a total spaz, I just plugged into my Valve Junior and wound it up without checking there was anything on the other end of the speaker cable. Luckily nothing blew up, but there was a very faint, tinny sound of the the guitar coming out of the head. Spooky. I'm guessing some random component physically vibrating with the current passing through it.

Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

It does to a degree, but because they are usually wax impregnated, they aren't too bad.ant wrote:The output transformer vibrates / is microphonic to a degree
that rattling / tinny sound is the thin wire of the plates / anodes / grids vibrating.

Ant's right. The transformer is WAY louder than the tubes.
