Can anyone describe what a filtertron neck and a paf in the bridge of a les paul would sound like?

Well a PAF is the classic Les Paul pickup. Excepting modern ceramic beasts like the 490 whatever thingo, most other Les Pauls would have some kind of PAF derivative pickup. PAF + LP = Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, Peter Green, Mike Bloomfield, Eric Clapton, etc...

The Filtertron is a Gretsch humbucker. The KA Kentron you're probably wondering about is a PAF style humbucker tweaked to sound more Filtertron-ish. That means lower output, more glassy, clean, chimey than a fat PAF. Look up some Gretsch users to get an idea of that tone in music.

Talking of KAs, I spent a couple of hours chatting with him a couple of years ago. Nice bloke, but he and his dad had a real bust-up. Kent wasn't keen on Bill Lawrence - claimed he'd (Bill) stolen his designs from Dan (Kent's dad). It got confusing.

Ooo, from that description, I can see why a kentron in the neck would be a good choice to match a Vintage C in the bridge. Cool, that's the sorta sound I've after. Yeehaa
