Tele-vision

Post by slash-ed »

Love it or hate it, here it is

Thanks to snitchez for helping me get hold of this beauty. The crappy lighting is washing out the colour a bit more than in real life - looks suitably vintagey from where I'm standing!

Looks more like this in real life actually:

Very nice. Those classics have the advantage of having fender-shaped pickups, rather than those almost p90 ASAT pickups.

Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

Not offended in the slightest, as I know the first thing Ed will do is knock the tone control right the way down ;) before my fillings rattle out... and it has a purple pickguard and a headstock so Rog will only be half pissed ;)

Umm... well, so far what I've got is:

I really like the neck and middle (position) pickup sounds. Very cool, kinda "hollow" and ... I dunno, my vocab is not really equipped to describe single coil tones.

Bridge pickup could be a bit more crisp and twangy, but works decently for now. Maybe it's my settings, I'll have to work on that a bit more. But otherwise - any suggestions on the crispest and the twangiest Tele bridge pickup??

I haven't really found them muddy, though, on the whole. And actually, I've only just realised that my cabinet has still got its back panel open from when I decided I'd see what open back Legacy 2x12" sounds like. I didn't like it. Should get off my ass and put the panel back, since all my tonal opinions are effectively moot when using a setup I didn't even like that much
