Three tone sunbursts are awesome. I have one and I've had it with all aged white pickguard, knobs, pup covers etc and I've had it with the SRV style tortoiseshell pickguard with white knobs, pup covers etc. Both look awesome.
If it has a maple board I really like the idea of a royal blue kinda colour, maybe a bit darker. Someone around here has an avatar with one in it...looks cool. Also have a similar idea for a mid-green kinda one.
I prefer stains to pain as I like grain
Just my 2c

Re: Your favourite Strat colour combination...
The classic Blackie and Mary Kaye styles are always first to mind, but when I think about it the unusual colours like Surf Green, Shell Pink and Sonic Blue rule quite a lot. Those colours look silly on other guitars, but are classic strat.

Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

So is that Clapton's Strat?BG wrote:

I've always wanted to know what's the reason behind the crazy paint job.
Is there some mystical back story like it represents all his guitars/albums/wives of the last 40 years?
Or was it painted by Ray Charles?
Nothing to see here.

Yes its one of Claptons 'Crash' Strats (Crash -01) - painted by a new york graffiti artist named 'crash' funnily enough. He did about 50 in the end - all different designs. Full story is here I believe http://www.modernguitars.com/archives/003154.html

Re: Your favourite Strat colour combination...
My new strat I'm waiting for is a REVERSE blackie. I've never seen one before, but when I ordered I thought it would be kinda cool. I'm not so sure now, but I'll find out . . .
