I'm not a RS hater, I've bought plenty of stuff from there, have friends there, and even worked there myself. But what does bug me is when shop reps start taking this 'we aren't obligated to look after you' line. It's not necessarily about what you're obligated to do and not obligated to do. We're not obligated to buy from you either. Obviously you need to know you're rights privately in case you're in a situation where somebody is insisting you do something that is unreasonable, but why even say it in this situation, especially when you already have come through in such a strong way. Why not be 'yep, this is the sort of thing we do, we love to look after our customers.'

Sorry if I'm coming off as pissed off, I'm not, I think you've done a bang up job here, and I have had some really good RS experiences lately. The 'we're not obligated to' line just doesn't come across well to me, it's very 'us and them'. It's a bit of a bug bear. Once I bought some $100 shoes (obviously not from RS) and the sole started coming unglued in a week. I wanted my money back or a different model because they were clearly rubbish, but I got the 'we're not obligated to...' line. They just wanted to glue them back up, which I wasn't happy about. I won't name the shop because I ended up working for them and they were a great company to work for!

yes that would be awesome and the 50 watt 800's i have played over the years were way better than 100watters, the only downside is "billy duffy, electric" and "tone" - i must have listened to a completelt different album as his tone on electric sucked

This amp is an extraordinary case. The receipt says 6-8 week expected delivery, it takes 4-5 months, not the fault of RS , the amp dies the day after recieving, again, no fault of the RS, so far they have provided extraordinary CS in response. Hopefully Big Jim Marshall provides just as good CS and all will be good (Is the correct retail term for after sales service not CS, but ASS :?:   ).

BTW: HRS said "grab any gat to use for picking any amp to take home while yours is getting sorted". I was like a kid in a candy store. :D

Aquila - what have you done to your amp? and HRS = Hamilton rockshop? if so they had a couple of nice LP's and a jvm50 on top of a basket weave quad that looked nice

The New 1959RR died the day after picking it up, so henderson rockshop took it back to be daignosed and loaned out a 1987x, which is really cool of them and the 1987x is just absolutely wicked.

Mmmmm ... interesting you looked at it that way. I hadn't considered it like that. My points was exactly that, that we like to go the extra distance and do what I consider to be the right thing - even when we don't have to. I just didn't word it in that way. I meant that we looked after AR because we wanted to, and we can, even though we didn't have to - but I guess it can be interpreted another way - that being 'oooooo look how good we are!!!11 we r the roxxor!!!!11 l33t!!!! woot'

Good thoughts.

As much as I'd like to agree that its good to go that extra mile, I won't be buying a Marshall 1987x from the RS in the near future.... sorry but I like to think of my gear as new if I've bought it new, and the image of a bunch of bludging westie bogans crouching around my 'new' amp with their pint bottles of Lion Red, smoking dak and seeing how loud it will go - just really doesn't cut the 'new' mustard ;)

No wonder these 'new' amps explode within hours

No offense...

You're missing out. It's one of the few (very few) locally produced shows worth watching.

Can't be worse than if it went out to some Kilkenny swilling Geordie hooligans aye?

Seriously though, I was going to turn down the RS offer because I didn't want responsibilty for 3-4k brand new amp, but this amp was already slightly scuffed up and so not quite brand new, being a 1987x, I had to say yes.

Anyway this is Titirangi, arty-farty capital of NZ, not very westie at all.
