Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
Compared to most other guitarists, Homme seems to be one of those that revel in weird as far as guitars goSpruce_Moose wrote:A tele? Weirdash wrote: Homme - Blue maton, red Maton hollowbody, red telecaster

How good are those Maton hollowbodies? They did a signature Homme axe, didn't they?

Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
Yeah I personally don't see how you could say Homme lacks personality in his playing.. he's got a real recognisable sound..
Trust me, If i knew it was a chick I wouldn't have done it, but to be fair, she was asking for it by wailing on me from the back for no apparent reason. You can be a white knight if you want, but seriously, what did she expect me to do? But yeah, I guess it'd be more acceptable if it was a dude (which I thought it was at first
), but I sure as hell won't lose any sleep over it
, funny story IMO
IkeKrull wrote:But yeah they put on a great show and the crowd was totally into it, and everyone seemed to have a great time, possibly except for the chick that got punched. Personally, i'd feel totally shit about breaking a girls nose, at a gig or otherwise. Zero respect for that.

Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
Maybe she shouldn't have punched me in the first place. I assumed a chick wouldn't do that kind of shit if she had any sense. Anywho, I was pretty toasted by that point, so It was pretty much just reactionary..

+1, reacting with violence without thinking is inexcusable.

Meh. Got no sympathy for someone who starts trouble. If it turned out to be a girl who attacked you, that's just doubly stupid on their part.
"You know something's gone badly wrong with the world when Prince has stopped singing about sex, and Morrissey has started."
Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
Sounds like she deserved it, I wouldn't give it a second thought.
You guys on the other side of the fence, do you have a straight up, no excuses never hit a girl attitude? I reckon domestic violence is disgusting, and hitting a girl who isn't attacking you isn't fair (use your wit), but theres got to be a point that you can't hold back. What if you actually feared for your well being? Or some chick was beating the shit out of a girl mate of yours?
Never hit a lady. If she ain't acting lady-like then the rule don't apply.

Ok I got rid of my Foal quote, but I found a new one.

Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
I was told once by an older woman that it's not OK to hit a woman, but it IS okay to kick them naked out of your car.
She chased me down five minutes later to explain that she meant hookers, not all women.

Good point, but I just think that in most situations the last thing you should do is blindly lash out in retaliation. God knows the girl was probably on P or drunk or both - much like the dumbass girl at AC/DC on Thurs night who took her top off and wondered why the guys behind her kept popping her bra claspRuBear wrote:Sounds like she deserved it, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Now after that, if she continues to do so (or is a 100kg monster that you are afraid may try to squash or eat you)... well something more drastic may be in order, but I still don't smashing someone in the nose is a great solution to anything. Guy or girl.
But I guess the point is moot anyway. Hopefully no one was too badly injured.

Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
I'm not going to shit right for a week after that concert...
My hearing is still fucked.
To add to the gear notes, aside from Dave's drumkit which i could go on about. Both Alain and Josh were playing Motor Ave BelaAire guitars. In wellington there were two Fender amps, looking a lot like Twins to me. The Bad Cat I think was for JPJ? The funny little amp looked like it had a Hofner badge on it from where I was standing. Also Alain had a Hofner bass in Wellington.
So fucking sweet.

Re: Them Crooked Vulture Roll Call
Ah yes, the Bel-Aires. I forgot about those. And it was indeed a Hofner, not a Maton or Italia. I was guessing on the basis of the fruity styling and headstock shape.Polar Bear wrote:I'm not going to shit right for a week after that concert...
