Being a huge fan of such pedal-pimps like Johnny Greenwood, Thurston Moore, Omar Rodriguez and pretty much all of Mogwai, I have had something of an extensive collection over the last two years, probably about twenty or so all up, though the most I ever used was about eight.
Lately, I'm all about "less is more" and am usually down to the following:
In front of amp:-
Marshall Bluesbreaker II Overdrive/Booster ===> Boss TU2 Tuner
Occassionally in the effects loop:-
Ibanez/Maxon Phase Tone Phaser ===> Ibanez DDL10 Delay
The Bluesbreaker II is great because you can actually switch it between an overdrive mode and a straight volume boost which bypasses the gain and tone controls, great for TS9'ing up stuff. The overdrive mode is pretty average, but good for practising shreddier stuff at lower volumes
I don't leave home for any practise/gigs without the TU2. Nothing really needs to be said about it - everyone knows how goot they are.
The Phase Tone is a 70's vintage unit that's really akin to the MXR Phase90, single speed knob (but with adjustable trim pot internally for width), so old is has Maxon printed on the parts inside. I recently converted it to run on mains, such a great unit for it's simplicity and subtle phasing effects.
The DDL10 is a more recent purchase that I got for a steal on TM. It's reasonably fluid and warm for a digital delay and has a fair range on it. It's ended up being used by my group's vocalist for a slight delay effect on certain songs. It does dull the guitar tone a bit even when run through the loop, so I've pretty donated it to our singer for vocal-mega effects.
I also have a Boss DS-2 and OD-2 that the long-absent Indie loaned me, which have been shared around for experimentation within the band. Interestingly, our bassist builds pedals from net schematics, just made himself a killer compressor which sounds just as good if not better than anything store-bought. Shows what you can do with a bit of time and know how.

Fender Pedal Tuner
Boss Bass Overdrive
Thats it, I'm thinking about getting a flanger and replacing the Overdrive with a programmable sansamp bass DI - 4 switchable channels yes!
As for guitar I've got a Danelectro Fab-tone, which is alright, I'd like to get a delay of somekind. But I don't really play guitar that much (mine's really bloody heavy, so its a bit of a deterant)

Ahhh yes....good old effects aye!
I have a love hate relationship with effects. There are just TOO many out there and most of them are actually pretty damn good!
I’ve tried a fair few and have settled on a mix that complements my playing and allows me to be more creative.
My practice, live & recording setups differ quite a bit.
At the moment it’s simply Guitar into Boss TU-2 with a Boss DD-20 in the effects loop for live play.
Most of my other pedals are being modded by Analog Man in the States and I eagerly await them!
Boss BF3
Boss DM2
Boss DD20
Analog Man BI-CHORUS
Ibanez TS9/808 (A-Man Silver Mod)
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff (A-Man Mod)
Electro-Harmonix Small Stone (A-Man Mod)
Teese Wizard Wah
DigiTech WH-1 (A-Man Mod)
Voodoo Labs Pedal Power2
I’ve also recently got a TC-Electronics G-Major on the cheap, but it just sits lying around. I definitely prefer my pedals to any rack setup I have tried.

It looks so damn cool. Three programable channels + off = four settings easily accessable.

Things I should of not parted with:
-Hotcake pedal (sold when desparate for cash two months old)
-Vester ES335 copy (best neck and playability on a guitar under $400 ever)
-Vester Telecaster copy (similar to above, great potential)
-Peavey Classic 20 combo (miss having a small tube amp to crank at friendly levels)
-Les Paul Studio (needed work, but I paid a grand for it, again with the potential)
-70's Jap Les Paul copy (set neck, Seymour Duncan 'buckers - made a profit, but oh how i miss them pickups!)
- Pearl Flanger (cheap, but sounded so cool)

My crapy little marshal is absolutly fucked, witch is brilliant cuz it sounds exactly like what i want it to, all you need to do is leave it in a garage with a leak so it gets soaked and dosn't work for a few days, then make sure you drop it when taking it out of the car boot. It actually got alot louder too.
However now, whenever it takes even a little whack when its tuned on i get this huge metallic ecco sound.

I been doin' this distortion, boost, overdrive thing for a while and have three I really like(schematics at arons stompbox forum)
number one is the t.m.k. which stands for too many knobs, six of 'em,and its a JRC4558 opamp with a feedback path back to the input and it goes into oscillations real easy. Its got all sorts of paths going around and through it and the variation is absolutely great. It was designed by Tim Escobedo and he also did some stuff on the original fuzz face circuit where you sub in mosfets and j-fets and regular high gain silicon,as well as Ge.I made one on rotaries where I can choose 4 different trans in each stage and also put a pot in the feedback connection with a cap to ground as well as switching in a whole bunch of diodes,Si and Ge.Its called the multi face. And my next favourite is something designed by Joe Gagan which uses a j-fet as a first stage which goes into a germ npn(bit scarce those) into tube amp type tone controls then into another j-fet and then a pair of diodes to ground...except they don't go to ground but are sitting on top of a dual gang pot which shares duty with the gain pot on the emitter of the first stage fet so as the gain goes up so does the resistance over ground on the clipping diodes.Very cool idea if you know this kinda stuff and to make it even more interesting you cut through the trace in the clipping pot so that when the gain is at zero, bypass cap outted, the clipping diodes are out of circuit and you get a clean boost.Three very verstaile circuits with low parts count, kind of,simple old fashioned and given a new lease of life witrh original thinking.Actually envelope controlled filters are also kinda interesting.Double doctor quacks...

How does the A-man modification sound compared with the standard TS-9 ... I am looking to have one done by himKloppsta wrote:Ahhh yes....good old effects aye!

well im still waiting for it to come back from the states. its on its way so I will let you know soon.
The silver mod is supposed to smooth everything out a bit and take away some of the heavy mids the TS9's/808's are known for.
It basically takes a good pedal and makes it great.

I've been trying a few pedals out but still not found anything better than what i had although i am using the janglebox compressor on my board now.
Selling on trademe g2d custom and g2d morpheus.
Also bought a hotcake which i'll probably sell but just giving it a little more time at present.
A fulltone OCD and distortion pro is on its way to me now to try out.
