There's great potential for a "what's the difference between..." joke here.bobiron wrote:Is pine real option? I am building something with it at the moment (my bad probably), but it is quite soft compared to other woods. Is pine similar to ash, but softer?

Not a silly idea at all.ash wrote:Swamp kauri clocks!!!1

I've got an unfinished silver beech Heilo in the stack that I'll finish one day. Seems useful, although not obviously spectacular. I'm sure I've done one in silver beech before, but I can't think what it might have been. I made a red beech bass once. No idea whether it was any good or not, but it sold in the K Rd Rockshop pretty quickly back in '93. Also used curly red beech tops a few times. Those woods all work fine, but often seem a bit "meh" compared to known winners like real mahogany.anyone used silver beech for bodys?
