WANTED: Acoustic gat and mando player for recording
Hey guys. I've been recording/producing an EP for a couple of young performers and I'm looking for a very very very good steel string acoustic player and a mandolin player to do a couple sessions.
It's a guitar forum so I thought I'd put the call out to you dudes. I'm not looking for a particular style per se, but I am looking for a particularly high degree of skill/competency. The songs aren't complex by any means. It's more of a feel thing with the occasional effortless flourish that I'm looking for.
Mandolin is just for color on one track so if you have a mandolin or know someone who is handy with one, let me know.
If you're keen to be considered I'd love to hear from you. Some sort of demo of your skills will help heaps.
A decent guitar is a must, too. One that holds tune and sounds nice recorded. Believe me, I've seen some shockers turn up to sessions in the hands of players that should have better. If it's a problem, maybe we can pull a favor from someone with a nice guitar but I'd rather not have to take on the extra work at this stage.
There will be a modest but worth your effort session fee paid at the end of production as well as a player credit on the final release.
PM me.
I am in Auckland.
This is not an April fools joke.

I gave Tommy Johnson a ring and he said he would have been keen but he's still not forgiven you for the April Fools thing, and neither has his Barrista.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Really tempting, but sooo don't feel like going up there.
Luckily I'm probably sub-par to not be worthy anyway, lol.

Yeah I'm really tempted too... except I hate acoustic guitars and feel the mandolin should only ever be played on Rod Stewart/Led Zep and REM tracks.RUDENBARK wrote:Really tempting, but sooo don't feel like going up there.

I'm actually more use than you, because at least I'm in Auckland....

hehehehehehe
In case anyone is suffering feelings of inadequacy or performance anxiety over my original call out, the competence I'm really looking for is good rhythm playing not super technical picky picky stuff. It's pure pop. Being able to learn the song quickly, getting the right feel of the songs and add some nice touches is my main criteria.

Buy why, why, why do their fretboards have to be so bloody narrow!!!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Hi Antony, I know a guy who is a fucking gun at both these instruments who might be interested. Trust me, he's a better acoustic player than most guitarists, as well as being a demon on mandolin, and for that matter fiddle as well. His name is Dave Khan. Cheers.

Thanks Sam. PM me his contact details.
I may have found someone already and have a few good options up my sleeve now too. But always keen to hear what else is out there.
