Greetings from Kuala Lumpur. I'll do a report on the guitar shops I've visited up here when I get some time (probably once I'm home on the weekend). But here's what I have bought - a 2012 Special Edition Jaguar Thinline. Apparently only 250 thinlines have been made to celebrate 50 years of the Jaguar model, of which 100 are the 3 colour sunburst. I tried out 4 different Jaguars including the Johnny Marr signature model and the '65 Vintage, but this one looked and sounded the best to me. I've been playing it through an Amplug for the past 4 or 5 days and now that I've figured out how to use all the switches and dials, it's all kinds of awesome! The tonal varieties are huge for 2 single coils. Can't wait to get it home through the Mesa.
That's about as far away from my sort of guitar as you can get, but even I think it's lovely. Excellent purchase, Sir.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.
Just to even out the gushing above, I'm gonna break the "if you ain't got anything nice to say, don't say anything" rule ...
I reckon the fender Jag is the best looking guitar you can get, but binding on a Jag is just wrong. Sorry. Its like Jessica Biel's body with Arnold Schwarzenegger's chin. Both mighty fine in their own right, but they just don't belong in the same body.
