Re: Setting Fire To Stacey
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Hey cool! I love that guitar. I feel lucky that I get to play it every time I pick it up.
Was that recording just one rhythm track + solo?

Yeah that guitar was amazing, I'm really on the look out for one myself now!twistedthoughts wrote:Hey cool! I love that guitar. I feel lucky that I get to play it every time I pick it up.

It was one take split on two tracks, the DI through the LR.Baggs unit on the left and a condenser mic on the right.
The solo is just the DI, recorded afterwards with some effects applied in Logic.

Re: Setting Fire To Stacey
Thought it was about time for an update with where we are at.
I guess the big news is that we are heading up to Auckland next week for a week to record two songs for radio play at Roundhead Studios.
We've signed on Sam Browne (Black River Drive) to produce two songs with us, and engineer extraordinaire Zorran Mendonsa to do all the technical 'engineery' stuff.
We are taking our photographer up with us, so will hopefully have a pile of pics and footage of the process.
You can follow along at our facebook page if you want: https://www.facebook.com/SettingFireToStacey
We're all pretty damn excited about the opportunity and are looking forwards to seeing what we can come out of it with.

Liked, shared, tweeted - I drew the line at "pinning" it though. Pinterest is making me fat.

Setting Fire To Stacey
Haha. Thanks Hamo!
I have to admit, I've never actually looked at Pinterest. I don't need to be any fatter. So might stay away.

I don't look at it either. My wife, her mum, her sister and sister-in-law all look at it. Then they see recipes, and then they make them. Then I eat them. It's a vicious circle.sopachrga wrote:Haha. Thanks Hamo!

Re: Setting Fire To Stacey
I think it was a good move both commercially and artistically to remove some of the F bombs. Sounds much better now.
I can hear what I think are Sam-isms. Maybe they're not, but the parts that sound Sam-ish to me are the post-first-chorus melodic part and the repetitive guitar melody during the chorus. These changes are good and leave space for you to breathe a little in live performances.
What happened to that fucking blazing solo you did on the video? Man that was killer. This one is still very good (very professional sounding), although I was anticipating some kick ass shred lick from 2:31 - 2:37 which never came . I suppose I should remember that 99.9% of your target audience will probably see guitar solos as "things that get in the way of the singing". They're probably right.
But then what the fuck do I know? I currently have 0 hit songs. In fact, if you count the songs I've written that aren't hits, I actually have negative-something hit songs.
