No, he's a different boring shredder with odd guitars.sizzlingbadger wrote:Shit I thought he was dead, then I realised I was confusing him with some other boring shredder with odd guitars, that dimebag bloke.
But honestly, Dimebag seemed like a really nice bloke but his tone sounded like a fucking mosquito.

He's probably too cool to care. But, yeah, I hated his tone.willow13 wrote:i'm sure he's rolling in his grave knowing a bass player said that about him

As much as I like(ed) his playing, his tone certainly was abrasive. SS Randalls to be thanked for that. He wasn't a boring shredder though and had many admirers among his peers, Steve Vai was a huge fan of his playing.Vince wrote:He's probably too cool to care. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

Ah thanks. I'd assumed that the timing was to coincide with NAMM.sty wrote:when this first broke a few days ago I heard that there would be a few private showings and a full public launch in a years time. Seems odd to be dropping so many tease images now if the release is a full year away.slash-ed wrote:Ah thanks. could be dipping their toes in the water to see whether they gonna swim or sink-based on feedback.I cant see anyway this is gonna work due to ZW's universally renown lack of taste.

what did he use on the first 2 "glam" albums ??? .... his tone is fantastic on those (from the little I have heard of them anyway)Danger Mouse wrote: As much as I like(ed) his playing, his tone certainly was abrasive. Re: Zakk doing an Eddie??
This is the most plausible explanation I've heard so far.Kris wrote:could be dipping their toes in the water to see whether they gonna swim or sink-based on feedback.I cant see anyway this is gonna work due to ZW's universally renown lack of taste.
IMHO the best ZW guitars have been the Bullseye and Buzzsaw Les Pauls, quite liked the Bizzsaw with Maple fingerboard LP, and the absolute best of all was the Bullseye Gibson Flying V with the Floyd trem and all the binding bling etc. However if he's just going to turn out these type of guitars then why bother straying from Gibson/Epiphone.
So he's kind of saddled with the problem that I remember Adrian raising quite a while back about what true innovation is possible, in Zakks case it will be in shape and finish rather than materials and hardware (looks like he's sticking to EMGs)
The noisy feedback I'm hearing online is suggesting to me that if he launches with any of the current ideas there's going to be a lot of discount stock in shops around the world not long after launch.
He needs to find one or two great shapes that work for him and his market and then partner up with a couple of shit hot graphic designers to come up with some stunning finishes to make this work.
Out of interest does anyone know how Eddie came up with the physical design of his guitar, was it an existing shape or did he have a hand in it's creation? I think this shape is the reason he's been able to go alone with it, it takes bling and pimping well, and seems to play well
