NGD: SG 60's Tribute

Post by JHorner »

Decided to stay home today just in case.

Glad I did.

About 11am, heard a thunk on the doorstep and a courier van making a quick escape.

Outside in a box:
Image

Guitar: $900 NZD
Case: $100 NZD
Shipping to youshop warehouse in USA: $100 NZD
Shipping to new zealand: $180 NZD
Customs: $230 NZD

Yes I could have got a new SGM or SGJ for a bit less, probably about $300 less after:
- buying a proper case
- replacing the robot tuners with grovers

Also then I would have had to live with dot fret markers and/or "2014" 12th fret marker.

This thing plays like a dream. After the honeymoon period is over, I think I will have to sell my Les Paul 50's Tribute.

Dunlop Jazz III plectrums only touch the strings.

I’m glad you like it, but I must say I’m more than a little confused by the fact that you went to all the hassle of importing the thing, when you could have got a new one cheaper . . .

I'm not aware of any retailer in NZ who has a new SG 60's tribute in stock. I'll be a bit upset if there is one.

I could have got a new SGM for 1099 + case 150 + grovers 70

But seeing the "2014" 12th fret marker every time I looked at it would not have made me happy.
I wouldn't have thought "gee I'm so glad I saved that $250 and got a guitar that irritates me"

Also the SGM and SGJ have the rounded 50's neck whereas the 60's tribute has a slimmer 60's neck.

Music planet had the 2013 for 1300

Super nice guitar
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.
