Pickup Squeal

Hi all

just picked up(lol yeah jk) a karina les paul copy
and its great at low gain type stuff but pump up the gain the pups start to squeal
is this becase?
1 to much gain for the pup
2 shit pups
3 any suggestions of a nice pup for not that much mular(bridge really and also practice my soldering skills)

Probably microphonic pickups - you could pot them but they're probably rubbish anyway. Replace em!

How loud you playing? I had some EMGs that would squeal at gig volumes because the pickup was loose in the cavity and the screw springs weren't firm enough to stop them resonating microphonically.

Note to fix that I shoved some foam underneath them.
