lol so the other guitarist in the band doesnt over power me with his marshall 30th aniversary half-stack, gotta crank a 100 watt solid state round to about 6-7 to keep up, but still struggle to hear me, was alrite wen he only had a solid state head.
when he use to plug up his gibson LP, the power was just insane compared to a pissy SS amp, he used his satch so he could hear me lol.

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...

Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?

Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.

Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?

Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

Marty DiBergi: I don't know.

Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?

Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.

Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.

Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?

Nigel Tufnel: [pause] Ours go to eleven.

I picked up the re-release of the spinal tap dvd last week. Some of the previously unreleased footage is gold.

It's true, slam the clean channel with some OD and let it rip

I generally don't. But it can be tamed with a bit of bass/mids and gain dampening. It just is a bit too compressed in a muddy kind of way, but at high volume (over 4 on the master), it actually sounds rather chunky.
