Yes, a wonderful day, many thanks to jvpp for hosting, and cooking lunch for us. Very civilized! Fantastic venue too, we entertained the forest and a flock of geese from the deck.

Re: Low key acoustic get together?
Great afternoon chaps. Thanks for bringing some wonderful guitars. I know me strumming them was sacrilege... Some unexpected talent on show with the playing and singing of their own material. Lyrics were particular impressive to me.
We had our own audience and whenever the ducks approved there was a loud quacking.
I also overheard her indoors saying to Oleg " you can play under my window every night" or something along those lines. I hope he takes it as a compliment...

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Wow, that's quite the venerable collection of acoustics! Looks like a fantastic gathering indeed.

I’ll be over tonight to serenade her. But this time with my 100W amp and the entire back-catalogue of Yes songsjvpp wrote:Great afternoon chaps. Thanks for bringing some wonderful guitars. I’ll still be there at breakfast, playing just one guitar part in 9 hours of unfathomable prog-rock.

Wish I could've made the acoustic get together. Oleg, could you do this outside my neighbours window please?!

Looks like a great time was had.
Regardless of whether it's an acoustic or regular gathering I've always loved the safe and comfortable environment to see and try some great gear without the pressure of a sales situation. It's always great to catch up for a gossip and some socialising.
Looks like we'll have to cater the next acoustic gathering

Just so long as you understand there is a strict rule: no amplifierssty wrote:Looks like a great time was had.

To be fair, we did something similar about 5 years or so ago round at mine. Although amplifiers were involved. And there were sausages in bread.Terexgeek wrote:Um Oleg, Christchurch did it first, remember?olegmcnoleg wrote:

With the bread or the amplifiers? And did the organising start six years ago? It's really cute when a terrier flips itself on it's back just to match the height of the average retriever!Bg wrote:To be fair, we did something similar about 5 years or so ago round at mine. Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Maybe for your generation, you Cantabrians were the first people ever to think of having a guitarist gathering without amplifiers. But in my generation, we called that a folk clubTerexgeek wrote:Um Oleg, Christchurch did it first, remember?olegmcnoleg wrote:

Re: Low key acoustic get together?
It was more that you were lecturing us on how to hold an acoustic get together, when we had just had one.olegmcnoleg wrote:Maybe for your generation, you Cantabrians were the first people ever to think of having a guitarist gathering without amplifiers. It read like:
1. You hadn't read any of our Christchurch Gearfest threads, maybe because it was South of the Bombays.
2. You felt somehow we weren't capable of putting together such a complicated event, maybe because we're Sth of Bmbys.
3. You felt we didn't GET the ACOUSTIC part of the title, maybe because we're SoB.
4. You missed that when Christchurch wants to do a Gearfest, we just do it and it's done with more attendees before Auckland's even checked the calendar to see if something else is happening that weekend.
But by all means, if you wish to inflate the discussion to how you were strumming songs with 3 cowboy chords to dark rimmed be-spectacled nerds in itchy turtle neck jerseys while drinking piss weak coffee in folk clubs before I was even a dirty thought, go for it! It wasn't part of my critique so I don't care. I've had to put up with my Dad droning on about how nothing matches those days and how IMPORTANT songs like Tom Dooley are and us kids just don't know HOW LUCKY we are....
Tin arse!!
