Re: Fake identification
I'm waiting on a receipt, but if it shows a purchase from the Rockshop at the right time with the right serial number, I'd struggle to say no...

What's wrong with the Maple top? Everything looks in order.

Re: Fake identification
Thanks, everyone. This might be the best $1500 I ever spent. Going to check it's not stolen first, obviously!

Re: Fake identification
Yeah, hence my worry about it being too good to be true. If it looks original, comes with a receipt, and hasn't been stolen, that's good enough for me.AiRdAd wrote:Holy Crap - 1500!!!

Most of the higher-end Les Pauls I have seen use relatively clean-looking maple, even if it isn't highly figured. The vertical line running near the volume pots seemed unusual.

Re: Fake identification
"Mineral streaks" are a common phenomenon in LP tops. Here's my R9. Got them top and bottom, quite a bit on the bottom.
Also, $1500? My brain goes "why would anyone sell an R0, prob worth $5K+, easily salable on TM, sell to someone they don't know, for $1500"? I'd be checking every piece of paperwork and also have a big mate in the car waiting for you with a 5min timer going.
I'm skeptical...but all the power to you.

Re: Fake identification
So am I, but a receipt from the Rockshop including the correct serial number, matching photo ID, matching bank account details, plausible backstory (present for partner but they just broke up, needs money for uni).... I'll roll the those dice.GrantB wrote: I'm skeptical...but all the power to you.
Re: Fake identification
I hope it works out. Could very well be a case of someone needing money ASAP or something along those lines, but does seem a little 'too good to be true'

Re: Fake identification
Why not TradeMe it for $1 reserve if they wanted to get best price? Man, hope you get it.
If you do, you need to do a full picture thread for us to salivate over...

It's probably on finance, there's the risk if they default the finance company will come for it.
