Re: String gauge - does size matter?
I can’t stand trebly strings, so these are on all of my guitars now:

I found boomers really trebley, so haven't gone back to GHS, I find elixirs quite neutral, have you tried them Rog?

Maybe you should have tried them on a guitar?

Re: String gauge - does size matter?
I’m running 10-52 on everything. I tried some 9-48,s the other day on a Tele might my caveman hands squeezed them all out of tune and I overbent each note.
This gauge on a Gibson scale is great for my style.
Makes it easy I guess when buying....”if” the order ever arrives (stuck Japan like my Supro pedal).

Re: String gauge - does size matter?
Decided to finally install one of the Stringjoy wound 3rd sets I have in my strat today, normally run 10-46 elixirs, these are a balanced set with: .010 – .0135 – .018w – .026w – .036 – .048.
First impressions are they sound brighter than the elixirs so had to wind the treble back a smidge on the amp, but play nice, will see how they go after some more bedding in, the G is a little harder to bend than the .017 I had on there before but despite evidence to the contrary I'm not much of a bender.
